K-Pop Club Night Miami reviews
Another solid Metallica show
Overall, the show was energetic with a solid K-Pop Club Night performance. James seemed to sing slightly more than his usual howl, and the song selection was strong.
I would've gladly traded a couple of those in for some older gems from about half to 2/3 of the Death Magnetic album. However, I wasn't sad to see all St. Anger songs bypassed. The Load-Reload era was also skipped, although I wouldn't have minded a few songs from that period.
Earlier songs were represented well, such as a few from Kill 'Em All, the actual song "Ride the Lightning", and several from MOP including "Master of Puppets", "Damage, Inc.", and "Sanitarium." We also got "One" and a little medley of "Nothing Else Matters" and "Enter Sandman."
Things loosened up near the end with a fun medley of "Last Caress" and "Motorbreath" before the encore of "Seek and Destroy." During the last song, black beach balls were dumped on the crowd with the house lights up, and the band interacted well with the crowd.
The acoustics were pretty poor in Conseco this evening, particularly for the guitars of James and Kirk and for the vocals. The drums and bass were too overpowering, and a solo by Robert to me sounded like nothing intelligible. Fortunately, the laser lighting and pyro were excellent, and several cool shadow shots of Lars playing were projected onto the crowd.
All around, it was a pretty cool night!
